Using the filter function
The filter function lets you control which respondents see a given question or topic, based on how they answered a previous question. Filters can be applied at two levels: the question level and the topic level.
Setting Up a Filter
To set a filter on a question, hover over it and click the Filter icon in the question toolbar. Note that this option only appears from the second question onward. The next chapter explores the kinds of filters available and scenarios for setting them up.

Topic-Level Filters
Topic-level filters work in the same way as question-level filters, but apply to individual topics within a question rather than the question as a whole. This allows you to show or hide specific topics for certain respondents within the same question.
Example If a respondent selected "Blue" and "Yellow" as their favorite colors in question 1, you can hide the "Yellow" topic in a subsequent Matrix question for those respondents, since that information has already been captured.
If you move a question that has filters applied to it, or that other questions filter on, review all affected filter settings afterward to make sure they still behave as intended.
