A substantive AI personas product for Rapid Market Research Insights

Hamburg, March 2026 – Appinio, the innovative global market research company, and CRONBACH, the leading authority on psychographics in marketing, are jointly introducing a groundbreaking solution for AI-powered research: Appinio Conversations – an AI personas Product that fuses psychographic depth with the speed and panel expertise of Appinio.

After several months of pilot testing, the system is now fully embedded in Appinio’s research workflow and available to existing clients in an open beta. Its goal: to enable businesses to gather reliable, psychologically grounded feedback on ideas, content, or products – in a matter of seconds. These AI-enhanced personas blend demographic and category knowledge with deep-seated psychological motives and attitudes, offering a new bridge between traditional market research and AI-driven innovation.

These rapid AI insights do not replace in-depth studies, but they serve as a powerful complement to the research toolkit – ideal for early-stage hypothesis testing, content iteration, or initial concept exploration. The clear recommendation: use as part of a broader research mix, not as a sole basis for decision-making.

Speed Meets Substance: Appinio’s Vision for Agile Research

Appinio sees this development as a major leap forward in making research faster and more integrated into clients’ daily operations.

Louise Leitsch, VP of Research at Appinio, explains: “Today’s marketing teams often need actionable feedback within hours. Our new AI Personas System delivers just that – based on solid psychographic principles. It brings speed and substance together and integrates seamlessly into our platform, making research more accessible and usable for our clients in day-to-day decision-making.”

With this launch, Appinio continues its mission to make research efficient and effective – further dissolving the traditional tension between speed and depth.

AI Meets Psychographics: CRONBACH Brings the Substance

CRONBACH contributed its psychographic framework to provide the substantive core of the project. The Hamburg-based consultancy is specialized in data-driven marketing rooted in psychological insights.

Stefan Sindram, Founder and CEO of CRONBACH, comments: “Our profiles are built on a validated model of psychological motives and attitudes. We translated this framework into the AI’s logic and refined it through multiple iterations – ensuring that each synthetic response feels not only authentic but also internally consistent. This creates real research relevance – in record time. The collaboration with Appinio marks a milestone in advancing psychographic modeling into the AI era. We see tremendous potential here for delivering rapid, pragmatic impulses that fuel brand growth.”

CRONBACH led the psychographic modeling, prompt engineering, and analytical validation of the system.

Christiane Wiemann, CGO at CRONBACH, adds: “Precisely because these tools are powerful, they require explanation. They’re not a silver bullet but a specific building block. For strategic questions and long-term brand building, tailor-made research is still essential – and that’s something AI should complement, not replace.”

Application: Fast, Agile, Responsive

Appinio Conversations is especially useful in scenarios where speed and creative iteration are essential:

  • During the ideation phase
  • In content optimization
  • Or for testing multiple concepts quickly.

Gordian Danker, CPO at Appinio, sums it up: “Most bad decisions don't happen because teams ignore data. They happen because the right questions were never asked. Appinio Conversations changes that. It gives teams a space to pressure-test assumptions before they harden into surveys, strategies, or products. Exploration becomes cheap. Validation remains rigorous. That combination is where better decisions start.”

Both partners aim to ensure responsible usage by providing training and transparent communication about the tool’s capabilities and limitations.

Outlook: Launch and Iteration

The official launch is planned for mid April 2026. The system will be available to Appinio’s existing clients and prospects.

Louise Leitsch, VP of Research at Appinio summarizes: “This project is a perfect example of modern product development – fast, iterative, user-centered, and still deeply substantive. It shows what future-ready research tools should look like and is the direct result of our developers and researchers sitting at the same table from day one, ensuring we didn't just build another tool, but tech that respects the rigor of science.”

Stefan Sindram, Founder and CEO of CRONBACH adds: “This partnership with Appinio has once again shown how much is possible when you stay open to new approaches. We're excited to keep working together on finding better ways to reach and engage people – unlocking new levers for direct, growth-oriented marketing.”
